5G New Radio mmWave Standardization

主讲人 :Fengjun Xi(郗风君,InterDigital通信公司 WBU部门高级技术经理) 地点 :教三楼811会议室 开始时间 : 2018-01-18 14:00 结束时间 : 2018-01-18 16:00

5G is becoming a reality!

In December 2017, the 3GPP Release 15 New Radio (NR) Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G specifications were officially approved at 3GPP RAN#78. These specifications support enhanced Mobile Broad Band (eMBB) operation which enables a significant enhancement in data rates and latency reductions. Non-Standalone implies the first release of the 5G specifications will use LTE as an anchor to facilitate an earlier release of the 5G deployment. By June 2018 the standalone (SA) 3GPP Release 15 specifications will be completed.

Advanced technologies have been introduced in 5G NR including: advanced channel coding schemes, scalable numerologies, a self-contained slot based frame structure, beam based initial access, efficient beam management protocols, and enhanced MIMO schemes. In this talk, we will present the basic concept and standardization efforts for these areas. Specifically, we will discuss the challenges, state-of-the-art design, and solutions for 5G NR mmWave standardization including mmWave bands, use cases, and key requirements. We will also discuss mmWave beam based technologies including: scalable analog beamforming for initial access, beam management, and beam failure recovery procedures in 5G NR.

We will conclude the talk with the 5G NR history, general technology and product development cycles, global trails and deployments, and provide our views on 5G NR and beyond.
